Internet Killed the Television Star

With the dawn of high speed, the internet has taken new strides in media. Large television corporations

began to allow full episodes of their shows online (with advertising, of course). Netflix is increasingly growing their instant movie database. Now, another third party website has emerged as a vessel of truth for those who are addicted to watching TV on the web.

It’s called Hulu.com

If you haven’t jumped on this ship yet, you should probably get to it. That is unless you couldn’t really care about free movies and television episodes in high quality video. Hulu provides both television and movies with limited advertising for your viewing pleasure when ever you want. I personally watched a ton of Arrested Development on there because I had no intention of wanting to buy all of the seasons on DVD. You can watch the latest Cobert Report, or take a glance at the latest on Family Guy. It is a treasure trove of media and definitely worth a glance, especially if you are like me and are too cheap to pony up the cash for Cable, or are just too lazy to live by televisions schedule.

The Nerd Unleashed

Since my childhood, I have always been a big Star Wars nerd. I also grew up with video games, which made me a big gaming nerd. Smash those two things together and you have my fascination with Star Wars video games. Don’t worry, this is going somewhere; I promise. I stumbled upon a interview from the lead director of the new game “The Force Unleashed” and I had to spread the good news to all my fellow nerdlings.

So, if you haven’t heard, seen, or experienced the latest on this game then I heed you to watch the video below. It is good.

Never Gonna Get Rickrolled

I came across this spoof YouTube video on The Recliner Commentaries with Barack Obama dancing to “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley. It was, by far, the funniest and most creative thing I’ve seen this week, if not this month. I will insert both the original music video and the Barack version for your viewing pleasure. It is, quite simply, amazing.

Now, here is the original music video. One quick thing to notice, the bartender looks an awful lot like Barack. Sorry that It’s not embedded. There were complications with it working. Don’t ask me why.

For those who do not know, the term “rick-rolled” is actually in reference to this artist, Rick Astley. Wikipedia expounds on the meaning and history:

“A rickroll is a prank played on an unsuspecting web surfer. To be rickrolled is when browsing a website  (especially a discussion forum or comment board), one comes across a link expecting it to lead to one thing, but finds something completely different when the link is clicked.

The name Rick refers to 80’s pop singer Rick Astley. The standard rickroll generally involves someone posting a link claiming it leads to something quite interesting (e.g. hot chicks in panties), but actually linking to a video of Mr. Astley singing “Never Gonna Give You Up.” This is usually considered a major let-down”

It raises the question, will America get rickrolled by Obama? Who knows. In the meantime, enjoy the video.
